The Norfork Community Care Program Food Pantry is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Food Pantry is located in Norfork, Arkansas just across from the Norfork Cafe on Highway 5 South. If you will be visiting the Food Pantry for the first time it is located at the back of the same building as the Norfork Community Care Program Thrift Store.
The Food Bank of North Central Arkansas currently serves more than 50 agencies in nine counties. Our agencies range from Food Rooms and Food Pantries to Soup Kitchens, Shelters, Day Centers, Pregnancy Resource Centers, and Back Pack Programs. Each agency is either a 501c3 or is sponsored by a local church. Click on the agency locator to see a complete list and map.
We like to focus on one of our agencies each month to give you an idea of the outstanding work they are doing. This month take a look at the Calico Rock Community Care Program. The following article is reprinted from the Three Rivers Edition of the Democrat-Gazette.
Begging for the Food Room by Susan Varno
Since 2004, Calico Rock Community Care, locally known as the Food Room, has bought a building, replaced the roof, put in new electrical wiring and plumbing, and added a kitchen. Ruedean Lester took over this food pantry in 2003. In six years, she has raised $75,000 in donations.
