No Kid Hungry Campaign Overview

NO KID HUNGRY CAMPAIGN

No Kid Hungry is a national campaign focused on ending childhood hunger, and is our national partner in this work along with the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance across Arkansas.

What We Believe

We believe that no child should go to bed hungry. Knowing that children in our local schools make multiple trips to the water fountain to fill their bellies, or spend too much time at the nurses office because they are hungry is a problem we're out to solve! But... we need your help.

Here's what we're doing:

Cooking Matters at the Store:

A one hour tour of the grocery store where we teach people how to shop nutritiously on a budget.

Cooking Matters:

A six week course designed to teach people how to cook nutritiously on a budget.

Alternative Breakfast Options:

We're encouraging teachers and administrators to consider providing breakfast after the bell, second chance breakfast or breakfast in the classroom options for their students.

Summer and After School Meals:

Provided to children under the age of 18 at local schools, youth centers, churches and libraries.

School Food Pantries:

Opportunities for local schools to connect with the Food Bank and the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program to provide food for students and their families throughout the school year and into the summer.

Backpack Programs:

These programs continue to be a especially good for our elementary school children. Backpacks full of food are delivered home each Friday throughout the school year to provide food assistance over the weekend. click here for more info...

SNAP Outreach:

This is another essential tool that we use to ensure access to healthy food options for the entire family. Once students receive SNAP benefits in their home, they automatically qualify for free/reduced meals at school.
